Healing and Therapy Day

Healing is the Absence of ‘You’:
A New Perspective on Therapy, Healing and the End of Suffering

Join Jeff Foster for a unique one-day intensive, in which we will explore the true meaning of healing from a unique perspective.

Whether you are a healer or therapist interested in meeting your clients in a new way, or you are simply struggling with your own thoughts and feelings and looking for stillness and space amidst the chaos of life, this meeting is for you.

The day will be a mixture of talks, intimate dialogues, silence and guided meditations, pointing you back to the deep acceptance inherent in the present moment, and guiding you towards a more open and loving way of living and relating with yourself and with others.

Here are some of Jeff’s words on healing and therapy…

ON HEALING
“True healing has nothing to do with ‘you’. It reveals itself when ‘you’ – the apparent controller of life, the one who thinks they know all the answers – get out of the way, and the vast, incomprehensible intelligence energy that is life itself is allowed to move freely. True healing is prior to the healer and the healed. It is the absence of a separate ‘you’ – and this absence we could also call love.”

ON DEPRESSION
“The word “depressed” is spoken phonetically as “deep rest”. We can view depression not as a mental illness, but on a deeper level, as a profound (and very misunderstood) state of deep rest, entered into when we are completely exhausted by the weight of our own identity. It is an unconscious loss of interest in our story. It is so very close to awakening – but unfortunately rarely understood as such. Or as one friend put it, “depression has awakening built-in…””

ON LISTENING
“Conflict ends when you listen to the one in front of you from a non-defensive place of deep acceptance and love, a place beyond “I am right and you are wrong”, a place where you fully honor and allow their present experience of life, however absurd or unkind their views may sound and feel to you right now. Conflict ends when you are willing to be perceived as wrong, even if you are quite certain that you are right. Conflict ends when you stop pretending to have all the answers, when you stop pretending to know, and instead you listen, really listen to the one in front of you, who is secretly yourself, ingeniously disguised. What you are has nothing to defend, and nowhere to hide.”
